The Second Weekend In June

The second weekend in June was a slow one for estate sales. There were plenty of sales but none that interested us. We did see one on Sunday so we figured that we would reverse our routine. Saturday would be our day for chores and errands. Sunday would be our day for saling, even if it was only one sale. That is exactly how we executed our plan.

Our first (and only) sale on our list was described as a huge estate sale with four floors of antiques and collectibles. It didn't seem to be advertised by a tag sale company but when we arrived, we saw the professional signage. It was not a company that we had run across before.

It was a pretty big house with lots of rooms and lots of potential. It was old, too, and that helps.

There were lots of clothes there and that kept Monica occupied for awhile. This particular piece came home with us.

This picture does not do any justice to our claim that this kitchen was a bright as any kitchen ever. Trust us...it was. Look at the cool ceiling lights!

All of the furniture in this room had a leopard pattern. It didn't bite. We spent a lot of time here because four floors take a lot of time. We also found some things to take home. Some cookbooks, some pocketbooks, a record and more came home with us.

When we left the sale, we were fairly close to Monica's dad's house so it was a good day to visit. but not before we stopped for some Sunday breakfast.

We stopped at two garage sales in between breakfast and Monica's dad's house. We have been to this house before. They seem to have a few garage sales every year.

At this particular sale, we found one record. At the other garage sale, we found a couple of books so neither were a waste of time. We spent a couple of hours with Monica's dad and then went home to rest before attending the annual St. Anthony's Feast in our town.

The festival is always crowded and it is great for those who like rides, carnival games and food. We always get heroes and then walk off our food. We did save a little time that night to look at what we brought home that day. This is what we saw:

An Annette Funicello record

Cookbooks

More cookbooks and an old appliance manual

Books

A vintage Hawaiian beach towel

Here's that shirt that Monica wanted

That shirt was made in Honolulu

A vintage pair of pajamas for Monica

They have faces all over them!

A vintage food umbrella which was never opened. It is made in Japan.

A pair of vintage pocketbooks for Monica

A vintage Santa and deer mug (both marked Japan)

It may not have been the busiest saling weekend we have ever had but it was fun as it always is for us when the two of have this time spent together.
